All My Hope Is In Jesus

I LOVE MUSIC!

God speaks to me through Christian music more and more all the time. Gets me right in the feels. I can say with certainty that a song and/or song lyrics will be a part of my blog posts frequently! And I am hoping that you will be singing with me.

Let's imagine that we are teens again...yes I can think that far back...and right now we have Crowder’s All My Hope playing as we go cruisin’. Windows down. Volume up. Hair blowing. Voices raised. Not caring who hears us. Of course, in tune and on key! Did I mention the Volume is up?! Come on and sing…

I’ve been held by the Savior   I’ve felt fire from above   I’ve been down to the river   I ain’t the same   A prodigal returned     All my hope is in Jesus   Thank God that yesterday’s gone   All my sins are forgiven   I’ve been washed by the blood     I’m no stranger to the prison   I’ve worn shackles and chains   But I’ve been freed and forgiven   I’m not going back   I’ll never be the same   That’s why I sing     There’s a kind of thing   That just breaks a man   Break him down to his knees   God, I’ve been broken more than a time or two, yes, Lord   Then He picked me up   And showed me what it means to be a man   Come on and sing

Or perhaps you’ve been through some stuff! You are like me singing from a mended heart. On your knees. Arms raised. Scars displayed proudly. You are forgiven. You sing louder and louder for all to hear. Free to keep singing…

Wikipedia describes Hope as an optimistic state of mind that is based on an expectation of positive outcomes. To expect with confidence. And to cherish a desire with anticipation.

I don’t know about you but I haven’t always had an optimistic state of mind. And I have at times felt very hopeless. Many situations have left me worrying and fearing less than positive outcomes - often times due to my own sins and lack of faith and other times it was done against me. In both my scenarios, hopelessness was a result of not putting all my hope in Jesus. Therefore, that hopelessness has left me imprisoned in heartache, shackled in anger, and chained to bitterness. Even then I sing…

May the God of hope fill you will all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the peace of the Holy Spirit.  Romans 15:13

God has orchestrated years of people and events to display or live out the Hope that is mentioned in Romans 15:13. I was brought to retreats, music festivals, church services, concerts, coffee dates, online groups, new friends and ones I've known a lifetime. Keep on singing...

I love to look back on my life with a Holy Spirit-filled lens and see how God really was working all things together for good (Romans 8:28). Some memories are big events and some are in everyday moments. But they all give me renewed hope so I sing...

The God of hope has filled me with peace and joy as I trust Him in the process. Exchanging hopelessness with hope can happen quickly, but in many cases it truly is a process. I may or may not be a slow learner and an even slower surrenderer! But what I am finally realizing is the more you are in a relationship with Jesus the more you recognize that hopelessness comes from the enemy, and he is a liar! That truth warrants some singing…

Guide me in your truth and teach me for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.  Psalm 25:5

I am BEYOND GRATEFUL that there have been some holy exchanges in my life. Because of that, I have traded heartache for love. The anger for joy. The bitterness for peace. Continually trusting the process. I will never be the same. And that is why I sing…

Heavenly Father, Thank you for filling us to overflow with your Love, peace, joy, and hope. Please place an extra hedge of protection around all of us that are expecting that Holy Exchange and laying those burdens at the feet of Jesus! We love you and praise you as with our song! In your son’s precious and holy name...AMEN!!
