Pray that the Lord your God will tell us where we should go (Work) and what we should do (Slay). Jeremiah 42:3

Have you ever had a 'crazy' idea pop into your head? The one that makes your throat close, your stomach churn and sweat to appear almost instantly? You know, the idea that you keep ignoring because you feel inadequate? The idea that when you tell others about it they get excited and can see you excelling--but you still can’t believe it?  I am positive I am not alone in this scenario. BUT GOD!

As I started reading The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson, God began to grow the Prayer Warrior in me. He must have forgotten that the reason I was drawn to read this book was due to feeling inadequate in praying. God continued to place those on my heart who needed prayer but my brain would go blank and my tongue was in knots whenever I began. Actual sentences seemed impossible to form. I felt like that teenage girl trying to ask the cute boy to 'couple skate' to the last slow song of the night at the local roller rink. Lots of studdering and fidgeting commenced. I had a strong desire and could feel the urgency yet nothing coherent came of it. BUT GOD!

THE CIRCLE MAKER....Praying Circles Around Your Biggest Dreams and Greatest Fears!! The title itself grabbed me. You see, I am a highlighting, different colored ink, fancy pen, circle making kinda girl! I jumped on the e-book train along with many others and dust off my kindle from time to time, but I prefer the real deal so I can feed the previously stated obsession. I was very intrigued by the idea of circling prayers - of writing prayers and making them pretty.

Chapter 1 caught my attention with "The bigger the circle we draw, the better because God gets more glory." More Glory!! I also read that "Miracles are the by-product of prayers that were prayed by you or for you." Please and thank you for miracles in my life! To wrap up the first chapter he says, "Your prayers have the potential to change the course of history." I'm sure I'm not alone in needing to change course every now and then. When I try to do too much on my own, I take all sorts of wrong turns. BUT GOD!

By the end of the first chapter, God convicted me to start a prayer journal. I was not in the habit of journaling - it just wasn’t my thing. Many times I would begin with great intentions then fizzle out quickly. I began to PRAY! Yes, I prayed about my prayer journal. I prayed a simple prayer asking God to use the journal for His Glory. God promises….call on me, come and pray to me, I will listen to you (Jer 29:12). Yet, I still felt inadequate. BUT GOD!

Any guesses on what God did next? You are right--He equipped me!

In 2 Timothy 3:17, we are reminded that God will equip us for His work. You’ve all heard the saying, ‘God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called.’ Because of that truth, I trusted God and began a prayer journal. Through consistent WORK, my confidence became stronger. That's when God led me to begin posting weekly prayer threads on Facebook within a mentoring group that I am a member of. I simply post a thread each week promising to pray specifically for each request shared and God does the rest! And boy does He show up! I now feel a little less unequipped! BUT GOD!

To 'SLAY' is slang for succeeding at something so amazingly or to dominate at something.

I don't know about you but I often don't feel like a 'slayer' or a 'dominator'! BUT GOD!

Mark Batterson also says, "Nothing expands our influence like prayer circles. If you pray like it depends on God and work like it depends on you, look out. God is going to show up and show off in some strange and mysterious ways!"

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. (Romans 12:12)

My 'Prayer Journal Journey' began over 2 years ago with the prayer thread about 6 months later! God has done some slaying (dominating) in that time! He continues to show up and show off....within myself and those that I am blessed to enter in my journals and circle in prayer. Still, some days my level of equipped(ness) is not where I would like it to be! BUT GOD....He isn't finished with me yet!

Heavenly Father, thank you for equipping us for all that you call us to.
You've placed everything in us that we need to fulfill your callings. Please
continue to bless each of us as we work in those specific ways. We will do
what we can so you can do what only you can!
Together we Pray-Work-Slay! In Jesus' name.....AMEN!
